My Name is Walter. Welcome to my channel. I went to work for the Southern Railway in 1969, and Retired from the Norfolk Southern 34 years later. I truly enjoyed my job. That's something a lot of people can't claim. If you don't like the job you are doing, you should be looking for a job you do like.
I created and maintain the Web Site www.carknocker.com, and spend my time either working with my computer, and I get out and Rail-fan a bit. Lately, UA-cam seems to consume quite a bit of my time. Being some what a Jack of all trades, I am likely to make Videos of practically anything that might come to mind, but I tend to make a lot of Railroad Related videos.
I am Loyal to my Subscribers and will support them, and watch and rate their videos. If I subscribe, I will appreciate it if you consider subscribing to my Videos.

That was an easy repair. I didn't know you could replace the USB side door. Great to know if that ever happens to my camera. Good video Walter. 😃
That's nice I have one
Good repair Walter
Thanks John 😁
It's been hot and humid up here for 2-3 weeks. Not much rain to speak of and it's going to continue that way for a good while with small chances of rain. I wish they would issue a ban on fireworks until this drought is over..
Thanks Mike We had a small miracle today it rained a while this evening
Super hot here in southeastern Illinois, as well.
Stay Cool my friend 😎
Walter, it is hot and dry in my neck of the woods. The humidity makes it feel hotter than the thermometer indicates it is. The hottest temperature I experienced was 115 degrees in Las Vegas, Nevada. Stay inside and stay cool with your ac running. That is what my wife and I are doing.
Thanks we are running our air full blast lol
It is getting dry here . I would not have thought it with all the rain we got earlier. 112 was the hottest it has gotten here in Aug 2011
That's hot 🔥 alright. Stay cool Lloyd 😎
Walter, Kathy & I want to take this opportunity to congratulate you on being cancer free!!!! God works wonders!!! He will see to it that you and "Contrary Mary" have many many more wonderful years together and that you have many more videos to come!!! I have not done much video or railfanning lately because it simply has been too hot to get out and about with my camera, yet I will be out and about on the first cool day we have!!! May God Bless You and "Contrary Mary!!!"
Thanks Bill. GOD DOES work miracles and in my case I am very thankful 🙏
It reached 103 here in St. Louis the day before yesterday with a heat factor of 106. Kathy & I kept our curtains and blinds closed all day with the AC set at 75, and we were comfortable. We have a new Lennox high-efficiency AC unit we put in only recently, and it does a great job with electric bills that rarely go over $100. One more of the many benefits about being retired is not having to venture out every day in this weather. Summer is, and always has been, my very least favorite time of the year. When I was working, I took vacations only in the fall, and during the Xmas holidays. Try to keep cool!!! I especially have to avoid the heat in view of my health issues and the medications I am taking. Kathy & I are very pleased to see that you are doing so well after your surgery!!! Keep up the good work!!! BTW, that bird nest in your BBQ grill is likely that of a Carolina wren. We had a family of wrens in our BBQ grill years ago when I was a kid. We left it alone and did all our grilling on a portable grill we also had. Those birds are fun to watch!!!
Thanks for sharing Bill. We ventured out to grocery shop but we too have stayed in. Thank goodness for UA-cam lol 😆 we are very thankful for air conditioning. tall take care 🙂
@@pwalpar We have been using delivery lately for most of our groceries, as well as most of our goods and services we purchase so to avoid going out in the heat. Thank God for online shopping, such as Amazon, etc. Television is also a wonderful invention, since the "best seat in the house" is our 4K big screen TV in our air-conditioned living room with food and beverages as close as our kitchen, and restrooms as close as the bathroom down the hall. It sure beats attending events in person and being jostled by crowds, looking for parking, paying highway robbery for admission, tickets, etc., and that notorious long walk from your car to the event. Also, food and beverages command highway robbery prices, and pick pockets are everywhere. Furthermore, downtown St. Louis has earned a bad reputation for crime in recent years. No thanks--we stay home and watch events, celebrations, parades, etc., on TV.
Nice Navy photos. 🙂 I've got the ones my daddy took when he was in the Navy, stationed in Occupied Japan. -- I don't know the hottest I've ever been. Maybe 110. I grew up in Macon plus we spent 10 years in Vidalia, so we saw some hot days a-plenty. But I prefer heat to cold.
Thanks Lynn I certainly dislike cold more as well. Stay 😎 cool
It has been hot here in Iowa also in the 90's but has cooled down to around 78 degrees today and it's supposed to rain. We are out of the drought now with all the storms we have had here in Iowa. Up in northern iowa it has been flooding bad. Couple days ago southern and eastern iowa had some funnels and tornados. Have managed to stay on the edge of it all. I saw on my computer weather page it was supposed to be 98 degrees for you today Walter. Whew! That is some pretty miserable temperatures and no rain coming for you. The hottest temperature I have ever experienced was 105 degrees. Luckily I had air conditioning. I stepped outside the house to see what it felt like ...... and yes wow it was hot. The yard crunched as I walked across it. Mostly all grass and plants were dead but the weeds kept growing. LOL! In the local newspaper it showed a picture of an outside lantern style night light had melted because it was all plastic. Your metal flower watering can looks really old. My folks had one that looked similar to that. And yes here in Iowa we have several lightning bugs. When I was a kid I would capture them in a jar and sit them by my bed and watch them as I went to sleep. There is an old saying that if the lightning bugs are flying high that means no rain coming, but if they are flying low it means that rain is coming. I sure hope and pray you folks get relief from the heat soon. Hope you and Mary are staying cool and you get some rain soon. 🌧
Thanks for sharing Joyce 👍 y'all sure have had an abundance of bad weather so far. Let's hope for better Weather for us all. Take care stay cool and dry. My water can I purchased from A hardware supply some 15 years ago It's not an antique. I use it a lot.
Sittin out here this time of year, would make you think your tinnitus was gettin real bad , then ifn you was nappin you mite feel like you was floatin away when in reality the skeeters wasa makinoff with ya, then you'd hafta holler at maw ta bring ya the shot gun so's to take care of those yooper skeeters from the UP , theys big as dogs. LOLLOL.
Thanks 😊 I have tinnitus quite a good many years now. Wouldn't know how to act if it went away 🙃
@@pwalpar I meant to say the Skeeters up hear use your tinnitus as camouflage, they figger since your old you have it and they can carry you away LOL.. Yeah mine was self inflicted shooting hi power 50 cal rifles with no hearing protection, oh well.
I'm lookin at your 6-26 video and my weather map says north georgia is getting rain and south georgia is going to get hammered with a bunch of little T-storms but middle not so much ifn you want more I'll pray ya in some more, I been praying for Iowa and Nebraska and they's doin fair missed minnesota powerful sorry I didn't see that busted dam in time mita been able to save it, I had no idea minnesota was havin problems with flooding till yesterday. Pipelines we need huge pipelines , we all know the big rivers flood . Why not build stand by pipelines from Iowa and minnesota run them to Idaho, could run them to a desert and reclaim farmland go all the way to California, if Trump wants to help improve every ones chances then CCC camps building flood control pipelines, no piddling pipes 20 and 30 footers be no worse eyesore than giant turbines and massive solar farms.
Thanks the Temps a bit milder today Rain missed us so far. Have a nice 4th of July
It's been hot here in NW Oklahoma, hitting a hundred for a few days now. A little early for this time of year but it is what it is. 27 kWh used yesterday keeping my dog and me cooled down. Sure is good to see you doing so well after your surgery.
Thanks 😊 I am very grateful to be doing so well my friend d. Stay 😎
We have have had a few hot days here in Arkansas but overall not to bad. Right here it was getting dry but we got 1.5 inches of rain and high in the upper 80's. Supposed to be more rain chances the next few days and temps up and down in the 90's. So more or less about a normal summer.
Thanks John 😊 Have A nice 4th of July
Hello Walter, good to hear that your whole surgery took this positive direction. Watch out for the snakes! 🐍😄 Greetings and all the best from Mega! :)
Thank you Mega 😊 I appreciate it
@@pwalpar 👋🙂
You have joined the long and steadily growing list of cancer survivors. Kudos!
Thanks 😊
WELL Praise the LORD Thank you JESUS ain't GOD GOOD
Indeed he is 👍
Walter, this is good news for you, my friend, I am happy for you. I will pray for your friend in Mass.
Thanks I appreciate it 🙏
Praising God! 😊 Ask the doctor if you can get 50% off colonoscopies now, only having half a colon . 😆 -- I'll add William Allen to my prayer list. I already have you and Mary. -- Yes, silver is a big germ-killer. -- Praying for complete healing. Take care in this heat.
Oh, do try to walk. That's the number 1 best physical therapy. 🙂
Thanks Lynn 😊
Fantastic news. It is so hot 🥵 and dry. Take it slow. Peace Praying 🙏 for those who are suffering.
Amen Thanks Kurt 😊
That was a good fishing story.I can't remember the first fish I ever caught but I've caught a lot since then. Been a long time since I went fishing last.
Thanks Mike 😊
Congratulations on your update being cancer free! With this drought wouldn't surprise me if a lot of cities and towns started a water conservation.
Yep I bet your right ✅
That's great news Walter! Keep following the Doctor's orders and you'll be 100% in no time at all.
Great news, shortly it will be back to work around the house! Will keep you and yours in our thoughts and prayers
Thanks 😊
Congrats and good luck in the future. It gives you a good feeling to get the good news.
Good news Walter. Cancer is a terrible thing and it is nice to hear good news for someone.
Thanks John 😊
Congratulations. I'm looking forward to another 10 or 20 years of Pawlpar videos.
No different than when I went to the doctor and was told that the cancer I had was removed via a frozen and normal biopsy came back clean. I did have a malignant left tonsil that he'd removed. No chemo or radiation was needed. That was in March of 2020 FYI, Walter. It has been 4 years since that surgery and I still don't have any sign of the cancer returning. That isn't to say that I have not had any other medical procedures. That triple heart operation wasn't a walk in the park in 2022, not the 3 strokes I had the following year. Now I have a new thing that was damaged originally back in 1994 and in 2005 to the opposite end of my back. In 1994, on Dec. 12, while hanging Christmas lights from cup hooks, my left knee gave way and I fell off of a ladder and landed on the back of my neck, and shoulder blades with the left arm behind my back. that popping sound was my left arm being broken and my neck at the same time. I did not feel any pain, until I put my broken arm into an ice bag. I'd gone into the house to let my parents know what had happened and to have them call 911, went into the kitchen and got the toaster cover filled it with ice, sat at the family room table, putting my left forearm and wrist into that ice, and waited for the ambulance to show up. That ice let me know I was in pain, but when the ambulance attendant put the wrist brace on wrong and grabbed 2 middle fingers, I decked him. Then put my right hand under the left wrist and the brace was put on properly. The guy I decked said he was going to press charges against me, but when his buddy stood up for me and the fault with his handling of a broken wrist and total arm he calmed down. I was livid and the head of the ambulance group came to me to find out what had happened, he was unhappy that I'd assaulted one of his staff members he st=etled down when I told him what had led up to my decking the guy. I understand that the entire ambulance crew was taught the proper way of holding a broken wrist, rather than grabbing the two middle fingers of that broken wrist. I also received the cost of the ambulance ride to the hospital. I've since seen that attendant and he's spoken to me about that incident and figures that he owed me an apology, which I accepted. He also said that the entire group was taught the proper way of lifting a broken wrist, and what I'd done was a wake-up call for them. In 2005, I slipped off of a Budget Truck after doing a repair on a corner cap and landed on my tailbone. I didn't think anything of it and continued to work. Now, I wish I'd have done something about it when it had happened. As for my back injury CS2 - CS7, T5, and T6 displace the Cervical cord posteriorly, and there is a bilateral herniation. T11 - T12 disc bulging, T12 - L1 central canal stenosis, L1 - L2, L3, L4 - L5 there is a broad-based disc bulge flatten the exiting right L4 nerve root. L5-S1 is a broad-based disc bulge that remains subligamentous with nerve root compression. To think I never had pain until I would walk distances after having had that heart attack and those strokes. Oh well, it is being looked at and I have a pain management treatment set up for the back.
You're A fighter my friend. Thanks for sharing 👍 and keep on fighting
Fantastic news Walter, I'm delighted to hear you're doing good, great actually and boy has this Tuesday started with a smile! I'll light a candle at Church for you, your family and for all cancer patients. Great news my friend!
Thank You Mick. From your lips to God's Ears.
That is really some good news Walter! You are cancer free! 😀
Thanks Joyce 😊 It was great news.
Thanks!
Thank You Jody Hope your doing well
Mr. Walter, sure have been enjoying your railroad and birding videos. Sure a appreciate your good advice on colon tests and all. So happy you are doing so well, just great! Sure enjoy hearing your fishing story! Hope and pray all goes well at the doctor today. God bless you and Miss Mary and all your good family!
Thanks Jody I a[appreciate it my friend. Things went great today
Nothing better than a good fishing story. Thanks and take care Walter
Thanks Lloyd 😊
Always love to hear your stories Walter. I also grew up fishing. That's a cute story how you caught your first fish. I think if I was your mother I would have let you pass on the spanking with the switch. My parents had a couple of fishing ponds on the farm. We would go fishing in Waterville Minnesota every year for and stay at a cabin. One year I won second prize in a bullhead fishing contest. Boy, was I proud and excited! I haven't been fishing for many years now and was thinking not long ago I should try my luck again. I have caught bass, bullheads, catfish, croppies, sunfish, blue gil and a small pike. I didn't like catching the pike, he was scarey looking with the teeth he had. Yes, I can remember the song that played on TV about Davy Crockett. I think they also had an TV program about him played by Fess Parker. Hope everything goes well with your visit tomorrow Walter. Enjoyed your story today.
Hi Miss Joyce, thanks for sharing your fishing story! Hope and pray all is well with you, God bless you! Also, mighty hot here in Nashville here lately, already lookin forward to fall, hahaha
@@jodygrubbs-lv7bp Hi Jody! Hope you have been doing well. Yes it has been a hot year for many people this year. Right now there is also flooding in northern Iowa. Seems like there is always something new going on with the weather this year. Hope you are staying cool Jody and don't have to get out in the heat. Always glad to chat with you Jody. God bless you Jody. 😊
Thanks Joyce 😊 It would do you good to go fishing, I cant think of a better way to relax
Good stories Walter. I remember my first fish too. A bream maybe about the size of your fish. Good memories of being a country kid
Thanks for sharing John 😊
I'm guessing you'll post the doctor visit report tomorrow or maybe even tonight while I'm asleep. I like waking up to see that a pwalpar video got posted. 🙂I hope it's a good report. You sure are getting around well.
Hi Miss Lynn, hope and pray you are doing well, God bless you!
That's the plan! Thanks Lynn I did well today
Yep, I grew up fishing, though not as often as you. I always used a cane pole, even when I was offered a rod and reel. I preferred the pole. I caught mostly bream and bluegill, and the occasional large-mouth bass, which is my favorite to eat. Mama or Daddy would fry up our catch. They always gave me the tails of the smaller fish, because I loved eating the crunchy flour-and-salt-covered tail fins. -- More stories any time!
Yep I always enjoyed getting some fried fish including the tails. Thanks for sharing Lynn
Love the RS3L
Me too! Thanks 😊
Thank you for making this video
My pleasure! Thanks for commenting
Man it's always nice to look into the past and see what use to run before the present day. Unfortunately the 195.1 detector heard in the background after the train passes was replaced earlier this year. Went to Locust Grove GA on the 20th and I heard the newer style voice that NS has been replacing a lot of their defect detectors with at 195.1.
Thanks for the update on the detectors
I hear your cicadas. We don't have any here. Hmmm.
Thanks Lynn 😊 so much other noise I didn't notice
Walter, you haven't been gone long enough for me to have pwalpar withdrawals! You're doing great! Like others have told you, do be careful. I was concerned about you carrying the bird seed. But I'm so happy to see the same Walter out and about! Just don't give in to the temptation to get on that lawn mower! You don't want to bust things up inside. 🙂 Take care!
Thanks 😊 I will be careful for sure. and avoid work all together
Reset the BMS
Walter, all of the shooting did not seem to slow down business at your bird feeder.
Guess they are use to it lol. Thanks 😊
At least Walter he is not a close neighbour.
